Start-ups named for TSC project

The first group of start-ups selected for Transport Systems Catapult’s Intelligent Mobility (IM) Accelerator programme were announced at Smarter Travel LIVE! last week.

The programme is designed aims to attract start-ups into the UK transport industry and help create solutions in areas such as connected and autonomous vehicles, connected infrastructure, customer experience and transport data and analysis. 

Accelerator marks a new partnership between TSC and Wayra UK, which is part of Telefonica Open Future_. Wayra said that since 2012 

The first winning group are: Propelmee, DriverNet, Huddl Mobility Ltd t/a CitySwifter, Safr (Sleep and Fatigue Research). NumberEight, Zeelo, Valerann, Synaptiv, Conigital Limited, and GoMetro.

Each firm will benefit from a six-month support programme, with the free access to office space as well as mentoring and networking. The start-ups will also get access Wayra UK and TSC’s networks of investors, government agencies, large corporates and universities. 

TSC’s chief executive Paul Campion said: “Transport is currently going through a revolutionary period driven by digital, connected and autonomous technology. Up until now British entrepreneurs wanting to exploit these opportunities have needed to go it alone. We must support new UK businesses now, so we can take a lead on the world stage and create high-quality jobs and growth for our economy.”
