The rail sector dominates a ‘rich list’ of the best paid employees in public sector bodies published by the Taxpayers’ Alliance. 

Drawing on two Government reports, the Alliance has identified 238 officials working in 305 quangos – arms-length government bodies – earning more than £164,000 a year. Of these, 52 work for Network Rail and 37 for HS2 Ltd.
