The Government is to amend legislation to enable combined authority elected mayors to levy a business rates supplement, opening up a new funding mechanism for transport.
The West Midlands Combined Authority expects the Department for Communities and Local Government to seek Parliamentary approval for the Order next month. The seven metropolitan districts must also consent to the CA mayor acquiring the powers.
