CO2 targets ‘may push CT operators to cars’

Early targets for removing diesel vehicles from community transport (CT) operations could result in cars replacing minibuses, operators warned this week.

The Welsh Government wants all buses and taxis in Wales to have zero tailpipe emissions by 2028. The Community Transport Association (CTA) supports the aim but warns that making the switch from diesel to electric is challenging, because of the expense of electric minibuses and the prohibition on CT operators generating profits.
