HS2 Ltd announced the formal start of construction on Friday 4 September, stating that phase one of the project will create around 22,000 jobs.
Some 400,000 supply chain contracts will be available during phase one, said HS2 Ltd. It estimates that around 95% of contracts will be won by UK based businesses and around two-thirds by small and medium sized businesses.
