Portsmouth City Council has appointed Keith Willcox as transport advisor to assist rolling out high profile transport schemes within the city, including the city’s Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP)., said the council. Willcox spent more than 12 years at Hampshire County Council in various transport roles, most recently as assistant director – transport.
The city’s BSIP programme has been received £48m from the DfT. The council has launched a bus passenger charter, which guarantees higher standards of service of bus users.
This programme is part of the portfolio of the department, which are delivering a £28m Zero Emission Bus Regional Area scheme, bringing 62 electric buses to the region, and carrying out the £26m South East Hampshire Rapid Transit (SEHRT) project, which aims to improve public and sustainable transport as part of Portsmouth’s Local Transport Plan.
