Dan Norris has stated his intention to carry on as West of England Mayor after being elected as an MP in the General Election. He ran against Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg in North East Somerset and Hanham, winning it by just over 5,000 votes. After losing the former North East Somerset seat to Rees-Mogg in 2010, Norris spent 11 years away from frontline politics before being elected West of England Metro Mayor in 2021.
