Treasury paper details transport plans audit and other new steps on controls and delivery

The Treasury followed up the Chancellor’s speech with a detailed policy paper titled Fixing the Foundations- public spending audit 2024-25.

This identifies the transport budget overspends on rail support and road schemes and includes additional bus services support, and the unbudgetted extension of the £2 bus fare cap until December 2024, announced as part of Network North last October at an estimated cost in 2024-25 of £250 million.
