Welsh 20mph limit has had greatest impact on deaths and serious injuries

The 20mph default speed limit in Wales since September 2023 has so far had a disproportionately large effect on reducing the most severe casualties on roads in built-up areas, data analysis by LTT reveals.

The Welsh Government has previously cited reductions in overall casualties on restricted roads in Wales – roads which are now 20mph by default or 30mph by exception. Accident statistics for the first nine months since September 2023, some of which are provisional, show a 27.5%...
