Parents find it hard to give up their cars even when their children reach adulthood because of an “ongoing desire to care”, according to a new study. Private car use appears to have strong ties with parenting even as children become increasingly independent, says the report, by Jennifer Kent, Senior Research Fellow and Urbanism Discipline Research Lead at the University of Sydney.
