ScotRail has announced plans for a rolling stock cascade from September 2010 after the introduction of a new fleet of trains on its routes in Ayrshire and Inverclyde.
The first of the Transport Scotland-funded Class 380 trains are currently under construction at Siemens' factory in Germany and their introduction will add 9,000 seats to the Scottish rail network.
