OFT will not investigate Plymouth Citybus purchase

The Office of Fair Trading has decided not to investigate the purchase of Plymouth Citybus by Go Ahead Group.

Go Ahead expanded bought the 180-vehicle business from its council owners late last year.

The council-owned firm was put up for sale at the start of 2009 and Go Ahead faced stiff competition from Stagecoach to acquire the business. Plymouth City Council, which received £20m for the business, has faced stiff opposition to the sale from transport unions and local residents.
