June saw a key milestone in the implementation of the London cycle hire scheme with the installation of the first docking station.

The location on Southwark Street is the first of around 400 stations that will be in place across the centre of the capital once scheme is complete. The move follows the announcement by Transport for London that banking giant Barclays has been named as the sponsor of the scheme in a £25m deal, gaining right to the cycle hire and cycle superhighway...
