The construction of HS2 is likely to drive the demand for major investment  in local transport networks to serve HS2 stations. 

Political leaders in the West Midlands have begun exploring the case for a second Midland Metro line linking Birmingham city centre with major development sites in the east and south-east of the city – including the two HS2 stations.
