Transports Publics event provides French showcase

Multi-modality and innovation were key themes at the major French passenger transport show held in Paris at the beginning of June.

Customer-friendly information and payment systems using mobiles and interactive displays were featured on both the stands of system suppliers and operators, like those above from SNCF and RATP, and Veolia Transdev through its new relationship with IBM.

Buses appeared in new styles and shapes, including a new ADL hybrid London double decker, parked outside to underline RATPs ownership of London United. The specially styled VanHool EquiCity for Metz is the work of designer Eric Rhinn. Heuliez, Irisbus and MAN were amongst those showing hybrids. VDL was proudly displaying the major weight reduction achieved by the use of new materials on its Urban Networker. Gépébus showed two all-electric midi buses, including one for RATP.

Acomprehensive showcase of the French passenger transport world was provided at this year’s 5th Transport Publics expo held in Paris. The Biennial event brings together the whole of the industry across modes and involves both the system suppliers, transport authorities and operators.

As well as a big range of buses, a tram, vehicle and passenger service delivery equipment and technologies, a feature of the show was major displays by all the French operating groups including RATP, Veolia...
