If Boris Johnson and London First chief executive Baroness Jo Valentine want to remove congestion on London’s roads by building more roads, they should recall that 50 years ago the opening of the underpass at Hyde Park Corner merely shifted the congestion east to Piccadilly Circus (“Mayor launches first review of capital’s road network for a ‘generation’” LTT 03 Aug).
