A most curious case of parking fraud

A driver’s web of deception over unpaid parking fines led to her being jailed for perjury. Mandy Ainsworth explains how a joint approach helped uncover the truth

After going to extraordinary lengths to avoid paying her parking fines, Christina Kelly was sentenced at Chichester Crown Court on 18 July to four months in prison for perjury. Over a period of more than two years dating back to March 2010, Kelly received 46 penalty charge notices (PCNs) issued by either Worthing or Adur councils, which she failed to pay. Six were issued to a blue Peugeot and a further 40 to a white Peugeot.
