Labour leader Ed Miliband has shifted HS2 champion Maria Eagle from her role as the party's transport spokesperson to the environment brief.
In a move interpreted as a sign of Labour taking a more sceptical note on the Government's high speed rail scheme, Eagle was replaced by Mary Creagh, who was the shadow environment secretary. However, a Labour spokesman was reported as saying that Creagh is "a supporter of HS2".
The Labour reshuffle comes after the coalition's shifting of Norman Baker from the DfT, and Simon Burns' resignation as the minister responsible for HS2 on Friday.
