Edinburgh-Glasgow £740m rail upgrade has benefit:cost ratio of just 0.7

Transport Scotland’s £741.5m programme to improve rail links between Edinburgh and Glasgow has a benefit:cost ratio of just 0.7, according to the final business case just released.

The Edinburgh-Glasgow Improvement Programme (EGIP) comprises a package of measures including electrifying the main line via Falkirk High; electrifying the Cumbernauld-Glasgow line; a £120m revamp of Glasgow Queen Street; and a new Edinbugh Gateway station on the Edinburgh-Fife line.
