As the Second Reading in the House of Commons of the HS2 Phase One Hybrid Bill approaches, the arguments against constructing the line become yet more perverse.

Stephen Plowden attempts to resurrect the so-called “optimised alternative” promoted by the 51M group led by Buckinghamshire County Council. But this scheme is really no more than a numbers game played with “seats per day”, dreamt up only to try and damage HS2.
