The DfT has launched a consultation on two payment schemes for property owners living in rural areas close to the  London and the West Midlands HS2 route who don’t want to move. 

From the end of this year a voluntary purchase scheme will be introduced allowing owner-occupiers living between 60 and 120 metres from the line to sell their home to the Government for what the property would have been worth if there were no plans for HS2.
