East Midlands Airport's profits have risen from £14m in 2009 to £16.4m in 2014 due in part to rising revenues from increased parking provision. Figures show that there was also a 9% increase in passenger numbers.
The airport, part of the Manchester Airport Group, has invested £2m to increase parking capacity with the opening of a 1,400-space car park. This brings the total number of parking spaces at EMA to 10,520 across its long, medium and short stay car parks.
In addition to the 10,520 spaces, the airport has 2,800 spaces in a meet-and-greet capacity, 1,600 of which were added this year.
East Midlands Airport is undergoing a £12m redevelopment, which will see improvements to the terminal building, including the terminal frontage, the check-in hall and departure lounge. The building work will be completed by the end of the year.
