Freeports to host transport innovation?

Transport innovations could be trialled in the Freeports that the Government wants to set up across the UK. The Government is inviting bids for the creation of up to ten such facilities. In Freeports, imported goods do not incur tariffs until they leave and they pay no duty at all if re-exported. The Government says Freeports could also provide environments “to trial new technologies”, offering an “exciting opportunity for cutting-edge customs, transport and green technologies...
