McLoughlin orders review into Leeds & East Mids HS2 stations

The Government this week ordered reviews into the location of proposed high-speed rail stations in Leeds and the East Midlands, following a review of the phase two network by HS2 Ltd chairman Sir David Higgins.

Higgins said plans for a dedicated high-speed rail station in Leeds should be dropped in favour of integrating high-speed services with the existing station. A new location should also be found for an East Midlands station to replace the unsuitable Toton, he said.
