The Scottish Government has played down comments made by Sir David Higgins, the chair of HS2 Ltd, that an extension of the proposed high-speed network into Scotland is unlikely.  

Government company HS2 Ltd is due to submit a report on options for speeding up rail journey times between England and Scotland to the DfT this month.
