New roads in England will have to be built with much more sympathy for the landscape, transport minister John Hayes has announced.

Hayes announced plans to form a road design panel, change the Design manual for roads and bridges, and encourage cultural change within the construction industry, during a lecture organised by the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE) and the Campaign for Better Transport (CBT), and hosted at the London offices of law firm Bircham Dyson Bell.
