National Highways set to miss key safety target

National Highways is on course to miss its key road safety target, according to recently published accident data for 2019.

When it was established (as Highways England) in 2016, its first Road Investment Strategy set the target of reducing the number of people killed or seriously injured (KSI) on its roads by at least 40% by 2020, from the 2005 to 2009 average of 2,816.
