Nominations can now be submitted for the 2016 National Cycle-Rail awards. The event, hosted by the Rail Delivery Group (RDG) and sponsored by Cyclepods, recognise progress made by the rail industry and associated organisations towards encouraging the integrated use of bikes and train travel.

The 10 categories are:
1.       Best Customer Service
2.       Partnership Working and Local Government Schemes
3.       Innovation
4.       Cycling Champion
5.       Door to Door Journeys including Station Travel Plans
6.       London Cycle Parking
7.       Cycle Security
8.       Station of the Year
9.       Operator of the Year
10.   Cycle-Rail Photo Competition

The deadline for entries is 9 September. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in London in October – date and venue to be confirmed.
RDG says: “The 2016 Cycle-Rail Awards recognise the progress made by the rail industry and associated organisations towards encouraging integrated cycle-rail travel. RDG has a clear aim to encourage the greater use of cycles to access the railway.

“These Awards enable us and our partners to move closer towards fulfilling this ambition, through improving communication and the spread of best practice across the industry.”

Entries and nominations have risen over the past 12 years, reflecting the industry’s changing approach to cycles and trains, says the RDG.
