HOUSING DEVELOPERS have submitted proposals to Hertfordshire County Council to build thousands of homes on green belt land near St Albans that is currently earmarked to become a major rail-served freight depot.
Developer Segro Ltd is promoting the plans for a strategic rail freight interchange (SRFI) on the former Radlett Airfield site south of St Albans. The 119 hectare site is bounded by the Midland Main Line to the east, the A414 to the north, and the M25 to the south.
