Trenitalia, part of Italy’s state-owned FS Italiane Group, is to purchase the c2c franchise from National Express Group. Final consent for the sale from the DfT is expected in the next few weeks. National Express says the sale price is likely to be in the region of £70m, resulting in a small net profit. The c2c franchise covers services between London Fenchurch Street and Southend/Shoeburyness. It is the last franchise to be operated by National Express Group. ...
