The total volume of traffic on Scotland's roads was at an all time high last year, the latest edition of Scottish Transport Statistics has revealed, when an estimated 43 billion vehicle kilometres were travelled. This figure is 2% more than in the previous year and 19% higher than the figure for 1994.
