Transport for the West Midlands is to procure a new bike hire operator after terminating its contract with Nextbike.

Nextbike, headquartered in Germany, was awarded a five-year contract last spring for a dock-based scheme covering the conurbation (LTT 30 Mar 18). The company promised 5,000 bikes and 500 docking stations, saying that 2,000 bikes would be in place by last September and the remaining 3,000 by September this year.
