Can Midlands Connect deliver multi-operator ticketing vision?

Contactless ticketing with fare capping across multiple modes and operators has long been a goal for transport authorities in England’s city-regions and regions. Midlands Connect believes it now has the technological solution to make it a reality?

Midlands Connect has requested £20m from the DfT to develop an account-based ticketing system that will facilitate contactless ticketing with fare capping across multiple modes and operators. 

Known as ‘Broker’, the system reflects lessons that Midlands Connect has learnt from Transport for the North’s failed ABBOT (Account-Based Back Office Travel) abortive project to develop a similar customer offer.
