Stoke-on-Trent City Council has attacked the Government for proposing road closures in the city on air quality grounds.
Stoke says the Government is of the view that, to comply with EU nitrogen dioxide levels, the council will have to close the A53 Etruria Road at Basford Bank and the A50 Victoria Road in Fenton to all traffic except buses, taxis and motorcycles at peak times.
