A revolutionary scrappage scheme operating in Coventry has recruited 71 participants who, in exchange for mobility credits worth £3,000, have agreed to let their old polluting cars be crushed. Data so far suggests that 55% of scrapped cars were diesel.

The money can only be spent on alternative travel arrangements including public transport, taxis and hire cars. Enterprise is one of the project partners, offering car rental and car club services.
