The DfT is asking for views on when sales of new diesel passenger road vehicles should end, and acknowledges that coaches may need longer than buses to transition to zero-emission technology.

It says that ending sales of diesel buses from 2025 to 2030 had the broadest support in its initial consultation. It is now seeking views on setting a specific date between 2025 and 2032 for ending the sale of new buses which emit pollutants at the tailpipe.
