No more road schemes will be permitted in Wales which increase the demand for private car travel, the Welsh Government declared last week as it accepted the recommendations of the independent Roads Review Panel led by Dr Lynn Sloman.

Political and media reaction to the radical change of direction focused on the cancellation of most of the 55 current schemes which had been paused for the panel to review.
