Is OFT's bus industry investigation going to result in a fair decision?

At a time when thousands of jobs are being shed across the country, perhaps it is unsurprising that the suits at the Office of Fair Trading would want to look busy and launch a lengthy new investigation. But why did they pick its familiar foe the bus industry?

There is no doubt that the bus market is not perfect, but unlike many industries it is holding up well in difficult circumstances. It needs an investigation from the competition authorities like it needs a hole in the head.
