Dame Zaha Hadid, the Iranian-born British architect who has died aged 65, was best known for projects such as the Aquatic Centre for the 2012 London Olympics, the Serpentine Sackler Gallery, also in London, and MAXXI Museum in Rome. She also designed the Al-Wakrah Stadium in Dubai, which will be centrepiece of the World Cup 2022.

In 2004 she became the first woman to win the Pritzker Architecture Prize for her work on the Guangzhou Opera House in China. But among the art galleries, sports...
