Belfast drops free Xmas parking after bus company expresses concern

Belfast City Council will end the tradition of offering free parking in the city centre in the run-up to Christmas following concerns raised by a public transport operator.

Last year 1,500 spaces were provided free of charge at night times and weekends, for shoppers. However, the province’s integrated bus and rail company, Translink, claimed that the free parking offer brought more vehicles into the city causing congestion.
