Almost 900 people were prosecuted for misusing Blue Badges between 1 April 2015 and 31 March 2016, the Department for Transport has revealed. The vast majority of the 896 prosecutions (98%) involved a non-badge holder using another person’s Blue Badge.
Blue Badges’ are issued by local authorities to individuals and organisations concerned with the care of disabled people. They provide on-street parking privileges only if the badge holder is with the vehicle.
