The British Parking Awards infrastructure categories include awards for best new car park and refurbishments. Innovation in parking technology and smarter ways of working are recognised in the Intelligent Parking, Parking Futures and Parking Partnerships categories.
Parking is a people business, so there are also categories that celebrate the work of both individuals and organisations, including the Parking Team, Front Line Parking Person and Young Parking Professional awards.
The impact that parking operations have on the motoring public and the localities they serve are recognised in the Exceptional Customer Service categories.
Besides the ‘Competitive Categories’ there are several ‘Special Awards’ such as Lifetime Achievement and The Inspiration Award. This year also sees the launch of a special Parking & Property Prize, which will recognise innovation in the off-street parking sector.
The British Parking Awards were launched by Parking Review in 2002 as a way of recognising achievement and best practice in what was a long uncelebrated sector. Since then the competition has become a benchmark of excellence while the awards lunch is the high point of the parking sector’s social calendar.
Competition entries are judged by a panel of professionals drawn from across the parking, transport, automotive, public sector and private sector. Over the next few weeks the jury will assess, ask follow-up questions and decide which submissions go forward to the second round of the competition. The finalists will be announced in the week of 6 February.
The winners will be revealed at a lunch being held at the Lancaster London Hotel on Friday 10 March. The awards ceremony will be compered by impressionist, actress and singer Debra Stephenson, whose TV credits include The Impressions Show, Newzoids, My Mad Fat Diary, Bad Girls and Coronation Street.
