Venice, famous for its canals and gondolas, is a popular tourist destination. Parking in the canal areas is necessarily scarce, and there is great pressure on what parking exists in the mainland Mestre area of the city.
The city of Venice has thus opted for an app and sensor solution to improve on-street parking in two paid-parking zone. It has opted to install a sensor-based vehicle detection system in a total of 1,949 parking bays.
