Highland rail upgrade pledge fails to deliver

The Scottish Government has failed to deliver on a promise to cut train journey times from Inverness to Edinburgh and Glasgow, says environmental transport group Transform Scotland.

It said Scotland’s then first minister Alex Salmond gave a commitment ten years ago to cut 35 minutes from the average journey time by 2012, yet only  four minutes has been achieved.
