'Make manhole covers cycle friendly'

Research into higher-friction alternatives to the smooth metal finish used on manhole covers and drains on roads is urgently needed to reduce accidents to cyclists, new research has recommended. A survey of nearly 5,000 cyclists in Oxford and Cambridge found that the most common type of accident reported was slipping or skidding due to problems on the road surface.
