A78 Inverkip Street Bridge, Inverclyde

07 September 2006

The rebuilt A78 Inverkip Street Bridge in Greenock was officially re-opened to traffic on 25 August. It was closed to motorised traffic in 2000 following an assessment that showed it was beyond repair and closed to cyclists and pedestrians last year when work began. Traffic was diverted to other local roads. The 18-metre concrete slab bridge spans the Greenock West to Greenock Central railway line and forms part of the A78 route between Greenock and Inverkip.
