Passenger Transport Executives have criticised the DfT’s plan to pay bus operators more Bus Service Operators Grant (fuel duty rebate) for vehicles fitted with smartcard ticketing equipment.
The higher rate of payment, to be introduced from April this year, is supposed to incentivise operators to fit smartcard readers as part of the DfT’s strategy to increase the use of ‘smart’ ticketing.
