Domestic rail trips ‘central to HS2-HS1 rail link justification’

A high-capacity link between HS2 and HS1 could transform domestic rail travel opportunities between Kent, Essex and the Midlands, according to a new report published by high-speed rail lobbying organisation Greengauge 21.

The Government’s current plan is for a single track link between HS2 (London-West Midlands) and HS1 (the Channel Tunnel Rail Link). The line would connect Old Oak Common in west London with Camden Road junction, close to St Pancras International.
