Reading Borough Council has criticised the Government’s refusal to allow more housing to be built on green belt land, suggesting the policy hampers the delivery of less car dependent lifestyles.
The Government’s housing White Paper, Fixing our broken housing market (LTT 17 Feb), says green belt boundaries should only be amended in “exceptional circumstances” after all other reasonable options for meeting housing supply have been fully examined.
