The Scottish Government has activated a dormant company to own, oversee and manage ScotRail from 1 April.
Abellio has operated ScotRail since 2015. Its franchise period was seven years with a possible three-year addition. Since April 2020, the government has put in place successive Emergency Measures Agreements in recognition of the difficulties created by the Covid-19 pandemic.
